I should of done this (sign up) long ago. One thing I have noticed more than anything is I am so used to using my debit card now that if I don't have the money in the bank to purchase something I just don't (can't) get it. I don't expect to ever use another credit card in the future. This is how I should of been all my life. It would of saved me so much heart ache and humiliation. We ended up supporting them and taking care of them one right after the other for the past 10 years. We would do it all over again, but it took a toll on our income and savings. We are now faced with my poor health, and the loss of my income! We were forced into using credit cards to pay for prescriptions and supporting our parents. I was embarassed to enroll but the counselor put me at ease right away. She even went over beauty tips that could save money. ACCC was a godsend for me. I worried that I was making my credit worse, but I actually got a couple letters from creditors saying that I'd taken a good step. The counseling session I had was really great. Joe is GREAT! ACCC was recommended to me by my niece who has used your services in the past for debt management. Other services wanted money up front and made unreasonable demands of me.. Joe is a great person and knowledgeable counselor. It will be a struggle at first and Joe told me it would. He was honest and didn't play any games with me. Even though the reduction of collection activities was important, learning how to deal with money has been our biggest issue as both a couple and family. The "teaching" aspect of ACCC has been the most valuable life-long investment we've made! After talking with Paula today, who was a very sweet "Northerner" (lol!) I was so happy!
