(Boston, MA) – October 21, 2014 — American Consumer Credit Counseling, a leading financial education, credit counseling and debt management nonprofit based in Newton, Mass., recently participated in The Money Conference on Saturday, Oct. 11th.

The Money Conference, which took place at the University of Massachusetts Boston, was planned by the Office of the Massachusetts State Treasury and designed to provide personal finance information to help Commonwealth residents achieve their financial goals.

The Office of the Massachusetts State Treasury and the Massachusetts Financial Literacy Fund worked together with municipalities and community partners to organize The Money Conference. The community event was aimed at providing information on a wide range of topics: budgeting and setting financial goals, paying for college, retirement planning, purchasing a car or home, credit and debt management, investing basics, entrepreneurship and personal finance, and one-on-one money mentoring.

American Consumer Credit Counseling, along with other industry professionals and special guests Felix G. Arroyo, Chief of Health and Human Services, and State Treasurer Steven Grossman, shared information to help individuals and residents at varying life stages create a plan to take necessary steps towards reaching their financial goals. Long-time financial educator and WBZ Radio Personality Dee Lee, CFP, delivered the keynote address.

“We’re pleased to have had the opportunity to participate in this conference that provides consumers with tremendous resources on a variety of key finance and financial education topics,” said Steven Trumble, President and CEO of ACCC.  “In a climate where Americans are often saving less while carrying more debt, resources such as these are incredibly important so that consumers can achieve their financial goals.”
