Consolidating Debts

ACCC's Program for Consolidating Debts

American Consumer Credit Counseling (ACCC) has offered services for consolidating debts since 1991. Our debt management program has helped thousands of people like you with credit difficulties. You will work with a credit advisor who understands credit problems and helps you develop a plan to pay off your debts without borrowing any more money. Also during the program, you will receive money management education so that you can take control of your financial future.

The Benefits of Consolidating Debts through ACCC

Consolidating debts through ACCC has many advantages, in addition to our vast experience and knowledgeable counselors. Here are just a few of those benefits.

  • You make a payment directly to us each month, and we distribute the money to your creditors in the bill consolidation plan.
  • You save money from your consolidation of debt, because we work with your creditors to lower your interest charges and eliminate late fees and over-limit fees.
  • You can become debt-free faster. Our programs to consolidate credit are designed to get you out of debt within five years. This will depend on your particular circumstances.
  • You can receive ongoing financial counseling and education through our Recounseling Department.
  • You receive ACCC's Financial Peace of Mind Program, a self-study course with eight lessons and assessments that improves money management skills and increases financial awareness.
  • You also receive eRasing Debt, a monthly newsletter covering a wide range of debt management topics, including consolidating debts.

ACCC's Services Beyond Consolidating Debts

In addition to our program for consolidating debts, ACCC can help you with other financial matters. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has listed us as an approved credit counseling agency to provide mortgage delinquency/default counseling and reverse mortgage counseling. Our website has many free resources, such as financial tips on buying a home and teaching your children how to use credit wisely. And if you're considering bankruptcy, our consumer bankruptcy counseling is approved by the Department of Justice's Executive Office for the United States Trustees (EOUST). We can provide you with the pre-bankruptcy counseling and post-bankruptcy debtor education that the U.S. Bankruptcy Code mandates for persons filing for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

American Consumer Credit Counseling, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to helping consumers lower credit card debt and learn how to be debt free in the future. We offer free credit counseling where our highly trained credit counselors review consumers’ finances and credit card debt problems¸ offer credit card debt advice, and help to find the best strategy for paying down credit card debt. Counselors can also provide education around many common debt reduction strategies, including debt management, credit card debt settlement, bankruptcy, and debt negotiation services. We can compare the advantages and disadvantages of debt consolidation vs. debt settlement plans offered by debt reduction companies, and help consumers choose the plan best suited to their financial situation.
