Credit Counseling Reviews

Check Credit Counseling Reviews Before You Choose A Counseling Service

The right debt counseling provider can help you overcome and move past your credit problems. When choosing a provider it's important to do your homework, including checking into credit counseling reviews. Credit counseling reviews can give you a sense of a whether customers have had good or bad experiences with a particular credit counseling organization.

When you're looking into credit counseling reviews, pay particular attention to:

  • The quantity of reviews. It's difficult to place much stock in one or two scattered comments, but if you find a lot of consumer feedback about an organization – whether pro or con – then that's worth consideration.
  • Feedback on customer service. Credit counseling reviews are a great way to find out whether an organization responds to issues promptly, treats customers with courtesy and respect, and so on.
  • "Where are they now?" reviews, from customers who received help with credit problems in the past. Did the organization put customers on a path to stay debt-free well after the program ended?

One highly authoritative source for customer experiences with reputable debt consolidation companies (and disreputable ones) is the Better Business Bureau. See what the BBB has on file for each debt consolidation firm that you're interested in – preferably you want to work with an organization that has no complaints on file with the BBB, or at least one that has resolved any complaints that have been filed. Ideally the organization should be accredited by the BBB and have a high grade on the BBB's A to F grading scale.
