Thousands of people dash to the stores on Black Friday (and now also on Thanksgiving), while others patiently sit by their computer all day on Cyber Monday to score the best deals of the holiday season.
But, did you know that Free Shipping Day beat Black Friday’s online spending 2 years in a row by over $250 million? Probably not.
Most people either forget about Free Shipping Day or do not know about it. Wednesday, December 18th is a one-day, online-shopping event when thousands of merchants offer free shipping with delivery by Christmas Eve.
Free Shipping Day falls at the tail-end of the shopping season, and with guaranteed shipping it is perfect for buying any last minute gifts or supplies.
Another reason I love Free Shipping Day is that it is a great way to save money when sending gifts to friends and family who live far away. Since it started in 2011, I wait until Free Shipping Day to send my family in Nevada their gifts.
This year over 669 retailers have agreed to participate so far including big-name merchants such as Radio Shack, REI, Lord & Taylor, Harry & David, Neiman Marcus, Kay Jewelers, Express, Samsung, Modells, BlueFly, and many, many more. To see the full list of participating retailers, check out the site.
Just because free shipping is offered doesn’t mean other discounts don’t apply, so don’t forget to look for coupon codes and discounts before checking out.
