Insurance Claim Steps Post Identity Theft

If you like our content, make sure to subscribe to our channel!

Do you have identity theft insurance?

ACCC discusses 4 crucial things to know about filing an identity theft claim:

1. Check the policy

It’s important to know what exactly will be covered!

It should cover the costs of reclaiming your identity, such as notary fees, lost wages and sometimes attorney fees.

2. Report it

Immediately report identity theft to the police and your credit card company. You will need the police report to file the insurance claim.

3. Restoration Service

If your insurance company has restoration service, great! Most of the work to reclaim your identity will be done for you.

4. No Restoration Service

If your insurance company does NOT offer restoration service, you will be responsible for restoring your financial identity on your own. Be sure to keep receipts to then submit for reimbursement from the insurance company.

Remember, check your financial accounts at least once a week for suspicious activity to protect yourself against identity theft!
