American Consumer Credit Counseling Kicks Off Community Virtual Financial Education Webinars

Boston, MA – February 1, 2021

National nonprofit American Consumer Credit Counseling (ACCC) announced today that it is implementing free community virtual online programming and financial education webinars to meet the challenges that COVID-19 has brought, such as the inability to reach consumers in-person. As communities continue to struggle and their financial stability continues to be pushed, these financial webinars will be an innovative way to support the demands for financial support and education among consumers.

“Consumers are continuing to struggle financially, and it is more important than ever that we find a way to reach them,” said Steve Trumble, President and CEO of American Consumer Credit Counseling. “Through American Consumer Credit Counseling’s community educators and the use of technology, we will continue to build financial literacy learning opportunities and create a space to engage with consumers through virtual technology.”

ACCC’s first webinar will focus on the ‘Basics of Budgeting’ and will take place on Thursday, February 4 from 2:00 to 3:00pm ET. Peter Mullen, Community Educator at ACCC, will discuss the budgeting for beginners and will cover four proven steps to help create a budget and give consumers the tool and incentives to build their own budget. Mr. Mullen will review goal setting and how budgets can help consumers realize their goals while also discussing methods for collecting the financial information essential to building a budget and making decisions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a live session that will be interactive with a poll and a question & answer section. These webinars are free and open to the public. Mr. Mullen has served in a variety of financial services and training roles for over three decades for for-profit and non-profit organizations. His financial services experience began with program and project management on an institution level, but Mr. Mullen has most enjoyed his recent work directly with people in need of homeownership, financial literacy, and counseling. Currently, Mr. Mullen is passionate about improving people’s lives through education, speaking at neighborhood groups, and advocating sound financial well-being techniques.
