Tuesday Tip – DIY Beauty Care Ingredients

diy beauty careBeauty is pain, right? Sometimes, it feels like beauty is money, too. If you’re rebuilding credit, then charging for all of the high-end beauty products isn’t in the cards right now. Luckily, the all-natural movement is in full swing, and there are a lot of home remedies that are inexpensive and don’t skimp on care. Let’s look at some DIY beauty care options you probably already have in your cabinets!

The Best DIY Beauty Care Tips: Stuff you Have In-House

Saving on personal care isn’t always easy. But there’s no need to try and keep up with the Joneses’ when you can get the same effect for a low-to-no cost. It’s all about being resourceful and creative! Plus, you can rest assured that all of the ingredients in your beauty regimen are of the highest quality. Let’s see some DIY beauty care tips!

Oatmeal. Oatmeal is more than your favorite breakfast food. It’s a great option to soothe skin conditions including dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis. Oatmeal is full of antioxidants that help to heal the skin from a number of damages. Luckily, oatmeal is relatively inexpensive, and you may already have some in the cabinet. To make an oatmeal face scrub, grind up a few tablespoons of oatmeal and brown sugar. Add a touch of water to make a thick paste. Then, mix in about a teaspoon of honey. You can also add some lemon juice as a cleanser. Mix this all together and apply to your face/neck area. Leave on for about 10 minutes and then wash off with warm water.

Coconut oil. Coconut oil is an all-purpose, healthy alternative to a lot of other processed oils. It’s so versatile that it makes a great DIY beauty care staple ingredient. It may seem weird at first, but you can actually use the same tub of coconut oil for purposes that range from cooking to skin and hair care. It’s fantastic to moisturize your skin and repair damaged hair! Plus it smells great. While coconut oil is widely used, everyone has their own reactions. To be cautious, use coconut oil on a small test area before applying it everywhere!

Milk/Yogurt. Milk and yogurt have lactic acid, meaning that they are great for healing skin. Ever had a bad sunburn and been told to bathe in milk? That’s not just a funny idea (although it does sound preposterous!). Milk can hydrate and heal dry, cracked skin and help reduce any burns. It should also even out any redness in your pigmentation. To try, gently wipe a milk-soaked cotton ball along your face and then pat dry.

Honey. Honey is the best. It never expires, it’s always in your cabinet, and it’s great for DIY beauty care. It’s great for treating acne, soothing skin, and is a common ingredient for anti-aging. Use honey in moisturizing masks, scrubs, cleansers, or even use it on your hair and nails. If all else fails, mix it with warm water for a yummy drink – it’s good for you that way, too.

Tea bags. Tea bags are my go-to when I need to reduce swelling in my eyes or to calm my skin. Just add warm water and lay them on your eyes for 15 minutes and you’ll look fresh-faced in no time. And, they help to tighten skin around the face, too. No wrinkles here!

Blackhead removal. Have any stubborn blackheads? Rather than accruing too much debt by trying all of the expensive face washes and tools that may not work, try a home remedy. Mix baking soda, lemon, brown sugar, and water together into a scrub. Apply it to your face and the blackheads will be pulled to the surface. Do this once a week (or more, if necessary) to keep up a fresh look.

Try using these remedies separately, or even combine a few ingredients to get the desired effect. For example, try combining milk and honey for a soothing effect on the skin. Add different elements to make a scrub, cleanser, or because these ingredients are edible, a nice snack!
