3 Options for Your Financial Summer Reading List

The Total Money Makeover – Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey is a former financial consultant and real estate investor. Since 1992, he has helped millions get out of debt. Even if you don’t have a large income, he argues saving the money that you have makes all the difference. When we stay within a budget and don’t overspend, we can avoid accumulating debt and pay off any existing debt faster. People struggling with paying off debt should add this to their financial summer reading list.

The Richest Man in Babylon – George S. Clason

This 1926 book uses parables set 8,000 years ago to illustrate how the main character, Arkad, became the richest man in Babylon. He becomes rich by following the ‘Seven Cures’ and the ‘Five Laws of Gold’. These tenants explain how to generate wealth and how to protect it, respectively. This book even includes retirement fund advice! Additionally, it’s a great way to learn how to start making your money work for you. We recommended it for people fairly new to finances, because the parables make the concepts easier to understand.

The Berenstain Bears’ Money Trouble – Stan and Jan Berenstain

You may already be familiar with the Berenstain Bears children’s books. This one just happens to be about finance! It’s never to early to teach kids the importance of money and how to earn it. Using this popular children’s series gives them a chance to think about these concepts at a young age. The two main characters give examples of businesses a child can start, showing finances in action. Hopefully, it can give kids a head start once they start working and begin earning their own money. Add this to your family’s financial summer reading list for sure!

Financial Summer Reading List Conclusion

These books are just a small fraction of the personal finance books you can read this summer to learn more about money. We chose these three because we value the different lessons they teach to help you towards financial freedom.
